DfE Guidance to Teaching Online Safety in Schools 2nd January 2023
The Department for Education has just released a new guidance document to help schools teach their pupils how to stay safe online within new and existing school subjects.
The guidance, which is non-statutory, outlines how schools can ensure their pupils understand how to stay safe and behave online as part of existing curriculum requirements. It complements existing and forth coming subjects including Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education, Health Education, Citizenship and Computing.
The guidance also refers to the UK Council for Internet Safety document called ‘ Education for a Connected World Framework”. This framework provides schools with a reference to online safety related skills and knowledge, that children should be reaching by certain age groups.
