WMNET

WMnet is one of England’s seven Regional Broadband Consortia. It was established under the National Grid for Learning programme to enhance the quality of learning through the development of a distributed, regional learning network built on a broadband backbone giving all 2,500 schools in the region affordable and reliable broadband connectivity.

WMnet comprises 13 local education authorities which work together to:

  1. provide a broadband infrastructure connecting schools via a high-speed network to NEN – The Education Network
  2. improve outcomes by helping to embed effective educational practice with technology
  3. maximise the benefits and innovative use of broadband for teaching and learning
  4. help schools to stay up-to-date with the latest threats to online safety and how they might safeguard against this within their school community

WMnet is proud to be supported through partner sponsors, working together to support these four key objectives.
